Yoga

We will start the day with an alignment-based Vinyasa Flow class, working on building balance between strength and flexibility and exploring different layers of your body, in a slow and mindful way. Each day, we will explore a different chakra, its meaning and location in the body, colour, relation to our every day life as well as our strengths and weaknesses. The class will finish with pranayama and meditation, helping you to move deeper into your body, calm your mind, release tensions and anxiety and set your intentions.

In the afternoon, Marije will teach a yin class, guiding your body into a deeper release and relaxation. We will explore chakras as well as the meridians (energy channels) of the body.

The morning session will be around 120 minutes and the afternoon around 90 minutes.

The classes will mostly take place in our beautiful, open yoga space, and from time to time we will bring you to some special spots in nature.

Teachers

Magda has been practising yoga since 2003 and in 2011 she turned her organised life upside down and moved to India to follow her passion of yoga. After months of travelling, learning and exploring, she set her base in South Goa, where she co-founded her own studio - Parinama Yoga Studio.

She is a 500hr qualified Ashtanga and Vinyasa teacher and has completed courses in pranayama and Vipassana and Tantric meditation as well as yoga therapy. She believes in continuous growth and regularly practices with her teachers to further her skills. Her teachers include Vinay Kumar from Mysore (asanas), Sally Kempton (meditation), and Doug Keller (yoga therapy).

She has been teaching internationally since 2011, conducting workshops, retreats and modules for YTTC and teacher development courses around the world - in India, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, Italy, Spain, Poland and the UK.

In her Vinyasa or Hatha Flow classes, she combines Western attention to detail and alignment with the Eastern, traditional approach to yoga - introducing not only asanas, but also pranayama, meditation, elements of yoga philosophy and Ayurveda, and creating a safe space for self-inquiry and internal exploration within a strong physical practice.

You can find out more about her in the About Mags section and on www.parinamayogastudio.com

Marije has been practicing yoga since 2008 and teaching from 2013. She is a 400hr qualified Hot Yoga Teacher. She has always loved sports and working out - so it was at a gym that she tried her very first yoga class. After starting yoga at the gym she practiced Hatha and Hot yoga for several years.

She completed her Teacher Training in Amsterdam in 2013 and started teaching Hot Yoga. It was at that studio that she discovered different styles of yoga and now teaches Hot yoga, Bikram yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Yin yoga, Pilates and an anatomy module in Yoga Teacher Trainings.

Four years ago she started organizing retreats in Italy in a beautiful house of a friend. The place, situated in a remote location in the middle of a nature park, suits yoga perfectly as it invites contemplation. She now goes several times a year to Italy for yoga retreats, yoga and detox retreats and yoga and food weeks.

She likes to teach technical and personal classes focusing on creating awareness in the body. Awareness is the first step in being able to make long-lasting changes. There are so many subtle things to feel in the body if you become aware of them.

Her classes are down to earth and fun. She loves helping people go further with their practice, and is happy to discuss poses and answer questions regarding asanas after class.

Marije will be teaching the afternoon Yin Classes at this retreat.

Accomodation

The retreat will be set in Vidovina, in a remote location, on top of a hill in the middle of a nature park, around 2km from Casola Valsenio and around 70 km from Bologna.

The premises feature extensive, green grounds with hammocks and swings, a big farmhouse with 6 bedrooms and an 80m2 hayloft which has been turned into a stunning, open yoga space with views over the surrounding nature.

Built as a luxury farmhouse in the 40's, the house has been renovated in 2015, using mostly local styles and materials. The result is a simple, comfortable home that is spacious, functional, sober and authentic. Expect no exquisite decorations or marble bathrooms here, it's a farmhouse. Its luxury lies in the abundance of privacy and space: great rooms, big terrace, huge studio and lots of nooks and crannies to discover. And a night sky you rarely see.
